Our History
We are Port Stephens original surf school Est. in 2001. We still lead the way teaching people of all ages & fitness levels the fun, safe way to learn to surf. Our fully qualified, Surfing Australia instructors will guide you through the thrills & spills of surfing. So come on, book in for the ride of your life! It’s Addictive.
ONE MILE BEACH
One Mile beach by far, is the best most consistant, & friendly learning, wave, not only Port Stephens but the whole Hunter region. With gentle, rolling waves on a sandy bottom beach break it's perfect for the beginner to Intermediate surfer.
ABOUT OUR LESSONS
Lessons
Our lessons are a great FUN, well structured, very informative & run for 2hrs. Our passion is teaching one of Australia’s greatest lifestyle sports, fun for the whole family! Be warned you may have to share your waves with the local Dolphinsthat frequent One Mile Beach.
We conducted beginner lessons in waist deep water, learning how to catch white water waves first, then steadily progressing to our 3-step stand up technique. There is so much more to surfing than just standing up on a surfboard. Learning to understand & read the ocean is very much a major factor in learning how to surf when building up self-confidence. So come & have a lesson with us, and we will get you started.
Equipment - supply by us
We use fun SAFE, soft, surfboards in our lessons helping you to progress through the entry-level stage. We also carry mini-mals for the intermediate surfers, & warm full length, & short wetsuits, as well as sun smart rash vest.Looking to buy a surfboard but are not sure what you are looking for? Come & see us for the right advise, we rent & sell beginner to Advanced surfboards.WHAT YOU LEARN
Beginner stage
- Reading surf conditions - Wave zone negotiation
- Identifying dangerous situations (rips & currents)
- Basic fitness for surfing - Wiping out safely
- Correct paddling technique - Catching white water waves
- Correct standing technique & lots, lots more!!!
Intermediate stage
- Catching green waves, Dropping down an unbroken wave
- Duck diving, Eskimo rolls. Turning surfboard with control
- Correcting & understanding the timing
- How to use rips & currents to your advantage
- Plus a lot more valuable tips and techniques
